About Me
Three decades of transforming lives through top-tier breathing and movement solutions has shown me the true potential of integrated health. I help people unlock and experience genuine wellbeing – not just the absence of disease, but the harmonious integration of body and mind that forms the foundation for achieving the performance you want in the everyday endeavors of life.
My Journey
My journey into the healing arts began with a personal experience of debilitating injuries, chronic pain, and depression, an altogether different experience from a childhood filled with physical prowess and happiness. During my first years as a physical therapist, I received care for my own injuries, including physical therapy and massage. With only moderate recovery, additional injuries, and lingering debilitation limiting my life, I began to discover healing experiences outside allopathic (specific injury or diagnosis) models of health care.
My “outside the box” curiosity began during graduate school. I was struggling with the dominating perspective of mechanical low back pain, biomechanics, and how to address dysfunction with isolated movement exercise programs. Because of the dominating narrow minded, evidence-based perspectives that flooded my professional field, it was difficult to find real solutions. Solutions that focused on long term benefits with a whole body-mind integrated approach with the belief that the body has an amazing capacity to heal itself.
I believe now whatever was generating the tension, fueled my desire to explore possibilities of movement, breath to foster and fortify health. And the pursuit of not being satisfied with what I learned and what I received during my recovery propelled my desire to discover progressive practitioners with experience beyond the mechanics of the body. That time and effort required setting aside my formal education to open up time to deeply study the philosophy, concepts and develop a felt-sense understanding for the dynamics of the body-mind complex, along with a personal experiences has culminated in what I am confident to share with others on their health and healing, fit to perform in life well extraordinary path.
Professional Evolution
My transformation as a practitioner began at the 1998 APTA conference in Toronto, where I encountered Dr. David Butler’s groundbreaking work on Adverse Neural Tension. His perspective through the NeuroOrthopedic Institute—particularly their compassionate approach to chronic pain—became a cornerstone of my practice that continues to this day.
After experiencing profound relief through Craniosacral Therapy for my own injuries, I was drawn to explore alternative modalities rooted in Osteopathy. I immersed myself in Craniosacral and Visceral Manipulation trainings, which led me to Integrative Manual Therapy and ultimately to my teacher, Frank Lowen. His revolutionary approach to manual therapy through Biovalent Systems (Lowen Systems—Dynamic Manual Interface) opened new dimensions in my understanding of the body’s integrative wisdom. Since 1998, I’ve dedicated my postgraduate development to the healing art of Manual Therapy, finding both personal healing and professional fulfillment.
That same year, I discovered Hatha Yoga through Nicky Knoff’s teachings, later studying with masters including Sarahjoy Marsh, Tias Little, Judith Lasater, and Matthew Sanford. In 2010, Scott Blossom introduced me to Shandor Remete and Emma Balnaves, whose Shadow Yoga and Nrtta Sadhana practices deepened my understanding of internal healing arts. My spiritual journey expanded through Tantric practices and Vajrayana contemplative traditions with Jennifer Welwood’s Integrated Awakening.
My experience spans eight years in traditional hospital acute care—working across orthopedics, neuro-trauma, cancer, intensive care, and more—plus over twenty years in clinical settings. This clinical background, integrated with authentic guidance in Eastern practices and my personal journey through suffering, has fundamentally reshaped my understanding of healing. I don’t consider myself a “healer” but rather an experienced guide with specialized skills to help others navigate their bodily limitations and discover their innate capacity for wholeness.
My Approach
My approach is informed by my own diverse experiences—as a professional athlete, wilderness and high altitude explorer, and poet. My creative practice through drawing and the loyal companionship of my dog have furthered my understanding of presence and connection. Deepening this integration, my dedicated practices of Hatha Yoga and Tantric Meditation have provided profound insights into the subtle energetics of the body-mind complex and the power of conscious breath. These pursuits have collectively shaped my understanding of human potential and the profound relationship between breath, movement, and performance across all domains of life.
