At Moving Into Harmony, the craft of being a skilled manual therapist requires many aspects of the practitioner. With over 20 years of clinical experience, formal teachings and a personal practice, Shawn shares his approach in the following areas:
- Manual Therapy
- Movement Therapeutics
- Hatha Yoga
- Anatomy & Physiology for Movement Therapist, Yoga Teachers, and Educators.
The unique combination of Osteopathic-based Manual Therapy skills and the energetic wisdom of Hatha Yoga is a parallel perspective on the body’s function, physiology and movement…and, its healing potential. The sense of touch is vital to understanding what a practitioner is doing with their hands, and essential in an embodied movement practice.
Both Osteopathic-based Manual Therapy and Hatha Yoga see and interact with the body’s functions and movements for healing. Each method recognizes the body’s role in promoting balance and healing. The believe is that the body does the best it can – given the circumstantial demands placed upon it – recognizing that the body is always seeking to find balance or homeostasis.
If you would like to enhance your hand skills for manual therapies, increase your understanding of body systems as they relate to movement and optimized functions, and/or enhance your understanding of integrating physical and physiological mobility, then mentoring with Shawn is possible. Please contact us for information on mentor opportunities to enhance your skills and ability to assist others.
